Doctors in India – How to Approach?

After completing the course, they start to practice as a doctor. Initially they work as duty doctors or resident doctor. Later, he/she can join MD/MS program, which is a postgraduate degree in the specific branch chosen.

MD is a three year course including theory and practical. Likewise in surgery, orthopedics and gynecology the corresponding degree is Master of Surgery (MS). DNB (Diplomate of the National Board) is also similar to MD and MS. The only difference is that MD/MS is certified by the Medical council while DNB is from the Diplomate of National Board. Once a person completes MD/MS or DNB, he/she can go for three year training of DM (Doctorate in Medicine). In case of surgical sub specialties the degree given is MCh. When a doctor gets these post-doctoral degrees, he can practice in a super specialty hospital.
